Comprehensive hazard management

Séché Environnement is one of France's foremost providers of hazardous waste recovery and treatment services.

We process, recover and treat the most complex waste, while guaranteeing the highest standards in terms of protecting human health and the environment. Our laboratories identify the type of waste and track environmental indicators (such as gas and liquid discharge and soil and water table monitoring)

Our tailored solutions, designed to recover the energy and material contained in waste, enable you to reduce your environmental footprint.

Depending on the nature and volume of your waste, we provide appropriate solutions to condition and transport the material.

If your hazardous waste is contained in small tubes, pots, bottles or containers, such as paint pots, glue, solvents, oils, pesticides, batteries, extinctors, asbestos, gas cylinders, varnish, or chemicals, our sorting and bundling platforms are able to recondition them and send them on to the appropriate treatment channels.

Asbestos

We process asbestos waste produced by dismantling industrial facilities, or removing the substance from urban or natural sites before sending it on to its final desination.

Industrial gas

In our unique workshop designed to closely manage risks, we process gas cylinders containing special inflammable, corrosive or toxic gases and potent greenhouse gases. Following a circular economy approach, we recover certain gases and residues, as well as the cylinders, which if damaged are conditioned and loaded in specially designed cages so they may be transported safely.

Polluted soil

Contaminated with heavy metals, such as mercury, lead and zinc, hydrocarbons or asbestos, we sort and treat polluted soils so they may be reused.

Solvents

As experts in distilling chemicals, we process exhausted solvents to regenerate them and give them a second lease of life.

PCBs and transformers

Our Tredi Saint Vulbas facility is the only site in the world able to both decontaminate electric transformers and eliminate fluids polluted with PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls). Our processes make it possible to reuse or recycle the metal components (steel, copper, etc.).

Bromine

We are the world's foremost producer of recycled bromine. Our process makes it possible to recover nearly 99% of the bromine present in industrial process waters. Regenerating bromine waste generates 20 times less CO2 emissions than producing virgin bromine.

Pyrotechnic waste

A number of industries are concerned by the need to treat pyrotechnic waste, such as ammunitions, detonators and shells, air bag cylinders, rockets, and fireworks. Our specialist teams bundle, condition, transport and process this highly hazardous waste. They also take part in earthworks operations to detect and disarm ammunition on former battlefields or military land.

Mineral waste

Our physico-chemical treatment units are equipped to process your hazardous liquid mineral waste (acids and alkalines) that has been contaminated by heavy metals, cyanide or sulphur.

Development

Séché Environnement inaugurates a unique specialty gas treatment facility at the Trédi site in Saint-Vulbas, France

As a specialist in managing the most complex types of waste, including industrial gases, Séché Environnement is strengthening its unique expertise in Europe by creating a dedicated treatment facility for specialty gases at the Trédi site in Saint-Vulbas, France. This development builds on the greenhouse gas treatment activities that the Group has been leading since 2000 and reflects the Group's aim of promoting the circular economy and protecting the environment.

How we process hazardous waste

Preliminary identification and acceptance of waste through a simplified, digitized procedure

You provide us with a sample of the waste to be processed, which we analyze to determine the appropriate treatment channel. Our chemists can also carry out their work directly on your premises, in order to support you in the analysis and conditioning of your waste.

Our account manager draws up a proposal and supports you throughout the project.

All the documents, including the preliminary identification form, the pre-acceptance certificate, and the waste tracking form are completed digitally and available in your Séché Connect account to simplify the administrative process.

Optimized logistics for collecting and transporting waste

We can collect and transport your non-hazardous waste from where it is produced to our treatment units, taking an eco-logistics approach that optimizes transport time and resources to cut the carbon footprint of transit.

We guarantee the traceability of your hazardous waste through the online Trackdéchets platform developed by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition.

Waste treatment and recovery to extract recyclable materials and produce energy

After having checked the compliance of the load when it arrives at our treatment facility, your waste is sent to the previously identified channel to control hazards as well as optimize recovery of recyclable materials and energy.

Reasons to place your trust in us

End-to-end support

Our chemical technicians are able to visit your facility to rapidly organize for your waste to be rapidly  transported to our treatment centers. Our teams have developed a sound grasp of regulatory requirements, and are therefore well positioned to support you every step of the way. Clients have their own account page to make it easy to keep track of their documents and ensure the traceability of their waste.

Safety above all else

Our specialist expertise puts us in a position to safely manage any hazards related to handling clients’ waste. Our laboratories analyze samples and determine how waste should be conditioned and transported, as well as which are the most appropriate treatment channels. Our specialist facilities have all the necessary certifications and authorizations, and our teams are specially trained in safety and how to properly use the protective equipment they require.

A partner helping you bring about your environmental transition

As specialists in the circular economy, we develop many solutions to reduce the environmental impact of your hazardous waste. For example, we sort recyclable materials, produce low-carbon energy, and regenerate solvents and bromine. As part of efforts to combat climate change, we have pledged to cut our clients’ carbon emissions (target: 40% increase in emissions avoided between 2022 and 2025).

Commitment to biodiversity

At Séché Environnement, biodiversity plays an integral role in our business model. The Group has its own team of ecologists and biodiversity ambassadors who roll out initiatives on the ground within and around our industrial facilities. Whether it is by protecting species, renaturing ecosystems, or raising awareness among stakeholders, we factor in biodiversity and take local priorities into consideration before undertaking all projects.
