[Video] 14 months of extraordinary pollution clean-up work to host the 2024 Olympic Games in Saint-Denis

After 14 months of an extraordinary decontamination project, the Saulnier ZAC in Saint-Denis (93) is ready to welcome the future Olympic Aquatic Centre. At the request of the Metropole du Grand Paris, the Séché Group and its partners, Antea and Charier, have joined forces to successfully complete this rehabilitation project, which is located a stone's throw from the Stade de France. A real collective success.

October 2020, a major challenge awaits the teams of the Séché Group and its partner companies: on the Saulnier ZAC in Saint-Denis, the rehabilitation of a 26-hectare site that will house the future Olympic aquatic sports complex begins. 182,000m3 of earth to be excavated to a depth of 14m, 30,000m3 of polluted earth to be evacuated and treated… The beginnings of a titanic decontamination site, one of the largest in France, confined under huge tents in order to protect the local residents.

Wedged between a motorway and a metro line, just a stone’s throw from the Stade de France, the Saulnier ZAC is the subject of an extraordinary decontamination project. The teams of Séché Environnement and its partners are doing an exemplary job in terms of the circular economy and sustainable development for the Greater Paris Metropolis.

In total, 80% of the excavated soil is reused and 50% of the impacted soil is evacuated by river

14 months later, the Saulnier ZAC is showing a new face. With 15 days to spare, the decontamination site is finished. The result of the teams’ unfailing involvement and cooperation, the rehabilitation site is a real success.

Everyone involved is proud to have participated in this project, which will soon welcome athletes from all over the world for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Frontignan la Peyrade: decontamination of the former refinery

The site of the former Frontignan la Peyrade refinery, located close to the town center and the coast, is undergoing a major environmental rehabilitation operation. For more than 3 years, teams from Antea Group and Séché Eco Services will be working to clean up the soil, while taking into account the severe constraints imposed by the proximity of local residents. This 11-hectare site presents a number of technical challenges and requires innovative solutions. It will enable the town of Frontignan la Peyrade to reclaim land for the development of a new district, thus meeting its objective of zero net artificial development.

Visit to the asbestos removal site on the Île aux vaches Natura 2000 site in Tours (37)

Located on the Loire in the heart of the city of Tours, the Île aux vaches is home to all the drinking water wells that supply the city. Contaminated with asbestos following renovation work carried out in 2008, the island, which is classified as a Natura 2000 site and a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest, had to undergo a particularly complex decontamination operation. Armand Debar and his teams from Séché éco-services did everything possible to filter and evacuate the asbestos cement debris while preserving the silt and sand, preserving the ecosystem and taking all the necessary safety measures for asbestos waste.

Tour of a demolition and asbestos removal site in Issoudun

Armand Debar, deputy operations manager, takes us on a tour of the demolition and asbestos removal worksite at a historic industrial site, the Lucien Coupet plant in Issoudun in the Indre department (36).
