Zero net artificialization
Developed on industrial wasteland, KEREA is an exemplary site reconversion operation in an area with a strong industrial culture.
Avoid Reduce Compensate
In 2021, the first Avoidance Reduction Compensation measures provided for under the prefectoral authorization were implemented. Prior to the start of earthworks, specific measures aimed at protecting the flora and fauna present on the
site were carried out with the support of an ecologist:
- Amphibian rescue
This included the creation of ponds in the vicinity of the site that would be favorable to the reception and development of amphibians. 24 ponds were created to compensate for the few wetlands likely to be impacted by earthworks.
- Ecological disfavoring
Ecological disfavoring also made it possible to considerably reduce the attractiveness of certain areas (trees, low walls, etc.) for wildlife, such as chiropterans, prior to the start of construction work.).
- Compensatory measures
Construction of stone cottages to provide refuge for small fauna near watering holes, and reforestation of the site's surroundings after completion of the work.
