Management

Joël Séché, Chairman Founder of Séché Environnement

Born to a family running its own business in the Mayenne region of France, Joël Séché founded his first company at the age of just 20.

After having set up a transport business, he took over the family public works company in 1985 and rapidly repositioned it in the high-growth sector of waste processing and recovery. As someone who has always been ahead of his time, he built his company in a way that took environmental protection and people into consideration. Séché Environnement became the first waste management company in the world to obtain ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management.

Over the past three decades, he has forged a place for Séché Environnement as one of the most important and innovative environment service providers. To finance the company's growth ambitions, he floated it on the Paris stock exchange in 1997 and steered its expansion, first in France and then internationally from the late 2010s. Joël Séché is the father of Guillaume Séché, the Group's Director of Development, and Maxime Séché, who he appointed to the office of CEO on December 10, 2019. Joël Séché is today Chairman of Séché Environnement, Officer of the French Legion of Honor and Officer of the National Order of Merit.
