The Opale Environnement site is enhancing its environmental performance with the commissioning of a new reverse osmosis leachate treatment unit.

Through the action of rainwater and natural fermentation, stored waste produces liquid effluents known as leachate. These are collected and treated before being released.

A few days ago, under the northern sun, the Opale Environnement teams worked together to receive and install a new unit for treating this leachate. It was a delicate operation that required precise crane work over the basin.

This new facility, which uses reverse osmosis technology, marks another milestone for our Sainte-Marie-Kerque site. It strengthens our leachate treatment system to ensure that our discharges strictly comply not only with current standards but also with future ones, particularly regarding the removal of PFAS.

Following the unit’s installation phase, the technical connection was carried out during the coolest hours of the day to protect our teams during this heat wave.
