Guaranteeing Health and Safety at the heart of Groupe Séché: the VITALES Rules

For nearly 40 years, Groupe Séché Environnement has made health and safety a core concern. For us, safety is much more than a priority; it is the very foundation of our business. To give concrete expression to this commitment, the Group has developed the VITALES Rules, nine essential principles that anchor our Health and Safety culture and know-how.

Safety: the supreme value

At Séché Environnement, safety is neither incidental nor negotiable. It cannot be relegated to the background, when time permits or when you think about it. On the contrary, it is the cornerstone of all the Group’s activities. This conviction is motivated by two fundamental reasons, as Maxime Séché, Chief Executive Officer  explains:

” It’s an absolute obligation to our employees : we can’t accept anyone coming home injured because of their work. We treat even the most hazardous waste. Safety is an integral part of our business and of what we owe our customers… “

Zero accidents in our sights

At Groupe Séché Environnement, the objective is clear: to aim for zero accidents. The challenges linked to this ambition are numerous, but we are convinced that we can overcome them thanks to the daily commitment of each and every one of us. Safety is a collective affair, where each individual plays a key role in his or her own safety and that of others.

To achieve this goal, the Séché Environnement Group relies on the 9 VITALES Rules, which define the essential practices to be respected in various risk areas :

  1. Confined Spaces
Specific measures for working safely in confined spaces.
  2. Electroportable Machines and Tools
Good practices for the safe use of electroportable machines and tools.
  3. Circulation and Work at Height
Rules to follow to prevent accidents when working at height and to ensure safe circulation on sites.
  4. Travaux Exposant aux Risques Chimiques et Biologiques
The precautions to take when working with chemical and biological hazards.
  5. Travaux à Proximité d\’Engins en Mouvement
Safety measures to be observed when working near moving machinery.
  6. Manual Handling
Good practices to avoid injuries during manual handling operations.
  7. Lifting and Load Transfer Operations
Procedures for carrying out lifting and load transfer operations safely.
  8. Hot Spot Work
Precautions to take when working with heat sources.
  9. Energy consignment
Rules to be observed to ensure correct energy consignment when working on equipment.

Solid foundations for responsible development

The Séché Environnement Group is constantly expanding, acquiring new activities and strengthening its expertise. To ensure that this expansion is carried out responsibly and safely, it is vital to establish a common base in terms of Health and Safety. This implies homogenizing and standardizing practices, while repositioning the operator as a major player in safety.

The VITALES Rules are the fundamentals of this approach. By integrating them into the culture and know-how of every employee, the Group ensures a safe and protected working environment. Health and Safety thus become shared values, and everyone feels concerned by their daily application.
